All doctors and nurses use an appointment system, usually of ten minutes' duration for the doctors with nurse appointments for chronic disease management usually taking longer. These are requested either in person or by telephone. Please try to see the same doctor if you are requesting a review of your condition. This might not always be possible but it is the best way to ensure continuity of treatment. There will be peak times when you might have to wait to see a doctor of your choice or indeed to get an appointment at all; this will usually be at times of great demand and these will pass so please bear with us.

Triage is a method of deciding the best course of treatment and the best provider of treatment for the presenting condition. This practice uses a triage system, and any request for an emergency appointment will be passed to our nurse practitioner or a doctor for triage. At this point the clinician will make a decision as to the correct person to deal with the problem. This might be a nurse, a doctor, the local pharmacist for 'Care at the Chemist' or it could be that hospital is the most appropriate recourse for the condition. Please be assured that you will get the best and most appropriate treatment using this method.

If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to give the slot to someone else.
