10. Urgent Help (Overdose)

An overdose is when someone has taken so much that their body can't handle it, and their breathing or heart slows down or stops. This is a life-or-death emergency.

Signs of a Serious Emergency

They pass out and you cannot wake them up.

Their breathing is very shallow, slow, or stops completely.

Their lips or skin are turning blue or grey (a sign they are not getting enough air).

They are having a seizure (fit) or convulsions.

CALL 999 IMMEDIATELY. Do not wait to see if they get better.

While You Wait for Help:

1.    Recovery Position: If they are passed out, put them on their side. This is vital to stop them from choking on their own sick.

2.    Keep Them Warm: Use a coat or blanket if you can.

3.    Be Honest: Tell the 999 operator and the paramedics exactly what was taken. The police will not be called for this. This information is needed to save their life.
